Natalie M. Godinez

Natalie M Godinez (ella/ella) es artista, educadora y defensora comunitaria radicada en Los Ángeles y criada en Tijuana, México. Godínez explora recuerdos, identidad y relaciones con lugares y lenguajes a través de textiles, grabados y colaboración. El trabajo de Godínez explora su experiencia como habitante transfronteriza y madre inmigrante. Utiliza lenguaje escrito, metáforas visuales, colaboración y medios artísticos orientados a procesos. A través de la obra, reflexiona sobre su papel como creadora y conservadora cultural y sobre todas sus identidades duales. Es a la vez inmigrante y ciudadana, Mexicana y Mexicana-Estadounidense, madre y artista. Su trabajo pretende ser una herramienta para conversaciones sobre experiencias compartidas, las posibilidades de nuestra imaginación y nuestros deseos de generar cambios en el mundo.

Godinez forma parte del Proyecto AMBOS (Arte Hecho Entre Lados Opuestos), una organización dirigida por artistas que reúne a artistas binacionales para hablar sobre temas fronterizos. También es artista docente en Los Ángeles y más allá. Su obra se ha exhibido en el Museo Hammer, el Museo de Arte Sun Valley, la Galería de la Universidad Estatal de San Diego, el Centro Cultural Angel's Gate, el Consulado de México en Los Ángeles y el Museo de Arte Vincent Price. En 2025, fue Artista Residente de Creatividad Masiva en el Museo Infantil New Children's de San Diego. Actualmente forma parte del grupo 2025-26 de Artists at Work, donde trabaja en un proyecto de preservación cultural tras los devastadores incendios de Los Ángeles. Godinez es Licenciada en Diseño Aplicado con Énfasis en Fibras por San Diego State University.

Natalie M Godinez (she/her/ella) is a Los Angeles-based artist, educator, and community advocate raised in Tijuana, México. Godinez explores memories, identity, and relationships to places and language through textiles, printmaking, and collaboration. Godinez's work explores her experience as a transborder dweller and immigrant mother. She uses written language, visual metaphors, collaboration, and process-oriented art mediums. Through the work, she reflects on her role as a cultural maker and keeper and on all her dual identities. Her work aims to be a tool for conversations about shared experiences, the possibilities of our imaginations, and our desires to create change in the world. 

Godinez is part of AMBOS Project (Art Made Between Opposite Sides), an artist-led organization for bi-national artists to speak on border issues. She is also a teaching artist across Los Angeles and beyond. Her work has been exhibited at the Hammer Museum, the Sun Valley Museum of Art, the San Diego State University Gallery, Angel's Gate Cultural Center, the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles, and the Vincent Price Art Museum. In 2025, she was the Mass Creativity Artist in Residence at The New Children's Museum in San Diego. She is currently a part of the 2025-26 Artists at Work cohort, working on a cultural preservation project after the devastating fires in Los Angeles. Godinez holds a Bachelor's of Applied Design with Emphasis on Fibers from San Diego State University.
